Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names such as: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
Just as the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they transport loads. The Rider model however, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of cargo over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is vital to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and hence, it is not recommended to transport unstable or tall loads using these machinery. A rider might be the perfect answer if you are looking for a cheap way of moving cargo from point A to point B. If though, you are required to transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best alternative.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This equipment is specifically designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in order to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles which could operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are extremely handy pieces of equipment during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more popular.
