In the year 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This device really impressed a lot of customers and hence, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, because the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, telehandlers and stick booms.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values as a result of the economic downturn in the start of the 2000s, when they partnered together with Terex. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is devoted to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machines.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the equipment has to be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
Compared to any of the different kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach overall. These machines are ideal for limited access areas in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machinery deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
