Forklift Motors
Purchasing a forklift is not to be taken lightly. A forklift is a large capital expense, and a complex machinery with a motor strong enough to execute heavy-lifting jobs. The price tag for a forklift ranges from $10,000 to $30,000, comparable to the cost of a small truck. If buying a used forklift, be certain to have it checked for possible mechanical problems.
The two kinds of forklift motors are: electric or internal combustion. Forklifts with electric motors are normally more costly compared to those with internal combustion motors. The motor size must suit the type of work for which the forklift would be utilized. A forklift with a motor which is large costs more compared to one with a motor which is smaller.
Motors that utilize gasoline or propane could lift heavier weights as they are usually stronger than electric motor. The downside is that gas motors tend to develop issues more often than electric motors. Depending on the price of propane or gas, gas powered forklifts can be more costly to operate than electric powered forklifts.
