Lift Truck Parts in More Detail
There are many components which make up a lift truck. The forklifts key components consist of the truck frame, the engine components, the overhead guard, the tilt cylinders and the wheels. Also, a forklift has different types of attachments. All the components that make up a lift truck are of equal importance since they work together to make the equipment's operation possible. The subsequent paragraphs describe in detail several of the lift truck parts.
The Overhead Guard - this guard forms the forklift truck's metal roof. It sits above the cab area and protects the equipment operator while he or she is sitting and driving. The overhead guard ensures that nothing falling from above onto the truck would injure the operator or damage the controls in the cab. The overhead guard is vital to the frame assembly on various models.
The Mast - Mounted either to the forklift frame or the front axle, the mast is the vertical forklift part made of interlocking rails. The mast enables the forks to move upwards and downwards while providing lateral stability. The interlocking rails can either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are two ways the mast may be operated: chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor or hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders.
Forklift Carriage - The carriage is the component which the forks and other attachments are mounted to. Actually, the carriage is directly attached to the hydraulic cylinder and is connected by chains. To enable the forks to be lowered and raised, the carriage may have either bushings or rollers to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.
Load Back Rest - a back rest is a metal rack that keeps a load from falling backwards while the carriage is lifted to its full height. The back rest is either bolted or welded on to the carriage.
Lift Truck Attachments - There are numerous kinds of attachments that could be fixed directly to the lift truck's carriage. Forks are the most common attachment. Additionally, there are rotators, rollers, L-shaped members, pole handlers, roll clamps and and all that. These various attachments are very helpful for transporting various types of loads.
